So began Crista Renouard
From very early in my life, I’ve had an artistic streak. Whether tearing through the backs of recycled forms from my mom’s office or entertaining a group of fellow students in the cafeteria with on-the-spot portraiture, I’ve always been defined as a creative. Drawing and painting from the age of 4, I was identified from an early age as having artistic talent. As talent attracts talent, throughout my school career I have been in courses designed for advanced placement and advanced study of the arts.
As a confession, maybe of poor taste or maybe just immaturity, I was not an savant in terms of appreciation of art. I hadn’t taken a proper art appreciation course until college, and likewise didn’t have any idea who even the most renown artists were until well past most of my artistic experience had been acquired. Truth be told, it never interested me; I never wanted to make something which emulated masters or was different just for the sake of being different. I wanted to make things that people liked, and most highly, I wanted to make things that I liked.
